Along the way you will find:
Kloten
The starting and ending point of the bike trail. The village's history is divided into three epochs. A time of iron production in a smelter starting in the 1600s. A timber and lumberjack era between the late 1800s and early 1900s. In modern times, we live in the third epoch of the village of Kloten with a time of recreation, nature, adventure and activity tourism. At the end of the iron handling period and the beginning of the timber and lumberjack era, Kloten had a population of more than 1000 people. Today there are around 30 permanent residents. In the village there are canoes, kayaks and MTB for rent and the opportunity to participate in a wildlife safari.
Blast furnace rim from the Kloten smelter.
The ruins of what was once the blast furnace are located 7 meters from the road on the right side, along the stream between Lake Kloten and Långvattnet. Water power for the furnace's bellows was taken from a water wheel in the stream. Pig iron was produced at the site between 1680 and 1910.
Stora Sörsjön Wind Shelter
A fixed fire pit is placed in front of the shelter.
Canoe Transport
Between Lake Norra Bredsjön and Lake Stora Korslången, there is a 50-meter stretch without a water connection. Today, there is a land transport path for canoes and kayaks along the paddling route. In the past, this was a transshipment point for iron ore. The iron ore came from the mines in Grängesberg and was transported via the lakes to the smelters at Kloten and Bredsjö. Remnants of a railway track, on which wagons were pulled between the two lakes, still exist.
