Canoe - 2 seats: 450 sek/day and 2700 sek/week
Kayak - 1 seat: 450 sek/day and 2700 sek/week
Double Kayak - 2 seats: 900 sek/day and 5400 sek/week
Rowing Boat - 4 seats: 900 sek/day and 5400 sek/week
Life jackets, paddles, poop shovel, canoe trolley, trail maps and a personal briefing are included in the rental.

The Nature Reserve

High hills and deep valleys surround a long stretch of excellent paddling water with steep cliffs descending dramatically into the river along narrow stretches. The wilderness is located on top of a higher plateau and the wildlife is rich. The nature reserve is very well taken care of. Along the canoe trails are a great number of rest areas with sturdy rain and wind shelters. At the rest areas there are good, strong fireplaces in front of each rain and wind shelter.

Waterways

The wilderness offers river paddling along narrow waterways without flowing currents, making it possible to paddle in both directions and in circles. At some points, the river gets bigger in beautiful wilderness archipelagos, with many untouched islands. The paddling in the nature reserve suits children and beginners and the fishing is excellent.

Fishing

Fishing is allowed in the nature reserve, but a fishing license is required. The lakes and rivers are home to a variety of fish species, making it a great destination for anglers. The fish that can be caught here include: brown trout, rainbow trout, pike and perch.

Wild Camping

Wild camping is allowed in the nature reserve for up to 2 nights at the same location. Campfires are only allowed in designated fire pits which there are a number of throughout the area. Firewood is not provided at the windshelters, although picking dry dead wood from the ground is allowed. Camping in caravans and motorhomes is only allowed at designated campsites.

📌 Starting points

Both canoe trails start at Nordic Discovery's Adventure Centre in the small village of Kloten. Kloten is located in the heart of the Malingsbo-Kloten Nature Reserve, along Road 233 between Skinnskatteberg and Kopparberg, a 2.5-hour drive from Stockholm.

🕝 Start and finish times - 9:00 to 19:00

During the season (May 1st - September 30th), we're open daily from 09:00 - 19:00. You can pick up and return equipment anytime within these hours. The rental is for a full day with flexible start/finish times so you can get the most out of your visit. Outside the season (October 1st - April 30th) it is open by appointment only.

👶 Canoeing with children

Canoeing with young children is easygoing compared to hiking or biking. It's a more relaxed, engaging, and family-friendly adventure, fostering teamwork and a love of nature. Plus, you won't have to carry them! We'll equip the kids with adjustable-height child paddles and life vests with neck collars for a safe and enjoyable experience.

🎒 Packing & Land transports

The canoes and kayaks are provided to you with small trolleys for easy transport. We roll the canoe to your car where you can do the packing before you head to the canoe trails 100-200 meters away. The trolleys are also used at the 3 land transports (max 75 meters) along the northern canoe trail so you can easily move the canoes between the different waterways.

🛑 No entrance or camping fee

There is no entrance fee to the Malingsbo-Kloten Nature Reserve or charges for tent camping at the rest areas or at other places along the canoe trails.

🚙 Camping with caravans and motor homes

Camping with caravans and motor homes is forbidden in the Malingsbo-Kloten Nature Reserve except on organized camping grounds.

Canoe Trails - Round trips

Northern Canoe Trail

Northern Canoe Trail, 1-5 days

Easy5 days
Begin your paddling adventure at the Canoe Center in Kloten. Paddle north along the narrow sections of Långvattnet. At the waterway fork, turn left and explore the islands and bays of the Korslången archipelago. Continue your journey up to Bredsjön and then down to Sörsjön. On your return, paddle north to Nyfors before heading back to the Nordic Discovery Adventure Centre in Kloten. This trail is approximately 50 km long and can be completed in 3-5 days, depending on your pace. The route encompasses four lakes, with short 75-meter land transports in between. For longer trips, it's recommended to follow the shoreline, completing a round trip along the described route.

South Canoe Trail

Southern canoe trail, 1-2 days

The 20km alternative extends around the entire lake and takes a full day to paddle. Along the trail there are two wind shelters, a bathing place and several resting places.

The 12km alternative takes half a day to paddle. Along the trail there is a bathing place and several resting places.

Rent your canoes at the Adventure center and start canoeing on the 6km alternative on the south canoe trail. This alternative extends around the closest islands past a bathing place and several resting places.

These are the best canoeing trips that start with a transfer from the Nordic Discovery Adventure Centre in Kloten.
Bredsjön-Kloten canoe trail

Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle from Nordic Discoverys Adventure center in Kloten to River Lodge in Nyfors. You can both pick up and drop off canoes in Nyfors and Kloten.

Accommodation at the starting point of the canoe trails

Wilderness Lodge is located at the starting point for the canoe trails. It is the perfect location when you paddle one of the canoe trails each day. Staying at the Wilderness Lodge is also an excellent option for the night before and after the canoe excursions.

Accommodation along the canoe trail

In the village of Nyfors, 10 km north of the Nordic Discovery Adventure Centre, it is possible to stay overnight at River Lodge. River Lodge is located along the northern canoe trail and is a great option for paddlers looking for a comfortable overnight stay between days on the water.
From the still water, the river lodge looks beautiful in the sunset. The sauna, swimming area, deck, and large veranda are reflected in the water.

Adventure Center

Kloten
The Adventure Center is located in the Malingsbo- Kloten Nature Reserve and is the starting point for all our activities at Nordic Discovery. Here you can rent canoes, bikes and equipment. You can also book guided tours and accommodation. Parking, ice cream and a small shop is also available. There is no supermarket in kloten so remember to bring food for your stay.
Moose safari
Kloten
Experience the thrill of a close encounter with the king of the forest. The safari is a five hour evening tour where you get to see and taste the moose. Moose wraps are served as wilderness picknick meal as you get to know everything about the moose. Then the moose searching begins with a one hour hike in the sunset and continuing by minibus.

Beaver safari

Feel a heart beat skip as the beaver suddenly uses its powerful tail to slap the surface of the mirror still water to dive. The beaver safari is a five hour evening tour by canoe. Wraps are served as wilderness picknick meal while you get to know everything about the beaver. Then the beaver searching in canoes begins right before sunset and continues late into the night.
